Christmas 2016
Mum continued to use the train to visit family as long as she could. She enjoyed the weddings of 3 grandchildren, and the birth of 4 great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed trips to opera, concerts, and Strictly Come Dancing, and one year attended talks at the Hay Book Festival. In 2016 some of us took her to the Kynren pageant in her home town of Bishop Auckland.

95th birthday, 2019
In 2019 Mum had her 95th birthday. We had a family meal in Nottingham with all of her sons, grandsons, and great grandchildren.

Mum with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 2019
Eventually Mum's mobility declined to the point where she needed a frame in the house and could no longer get to the garage safely to use the scooter. With the help of friends, especially Carole, frozen 'Wiltshire Farms' meals, and twice daily carer visits, she kept her cherished independence.
But in the summer of 2019 she had a spell of ill health resulting in a hospital admission and a reluctant decision to leave York, with so many special friends and memories, and move to Nottingham.
Home, until Mum's death on 3 May 2021, was the excellent Ruddington Manor Care Centre on the outskirts of Nottingham.
